BSMU starts cooperation with Wenzhou Medical University (China) on PhD programs

The interaction of Bashkir State Medical University and leading scientific and educational institutions of China began in 2015, and for 10 years now the University has been successfully implementing programs of academic mobility of employees, mutual professional exchanges and internships of students and young scientists, and also organizes large international congresses, conferences and master classes together with Chinese colleagues.

BSMU has acquired a new PhD partner university in China and is starting cooperation with Wenzhou Medical University (China). Recall that this is the third Chinese University with which the BSMU of the Ministry of Health of Russia cooperates.

Currently, the BSMU of the Ministry of Health of Russia is expanding cooperation with universities in China and announcing the recruitment of master's and PhD programs for 2025 at Wenzhou Medical University.

Wenzhou Medical University has established itself as China's leading educational and research university with worldwide recognition. Wenzhou Medical University pays special attention to the development of student medical education.

Together with Harbin Medical University and Sichuan University, BSMU implements joint postgraduate (PhD) and doctoral programs (Post-Doc), conducts joint research projects in the field of oncology aimed at finding new biomarkers of malignant neoplasms, in the field of cardiology and pharmacology for the development of agents against atherosclerosis, in the field of psychiatry, the study of cognitive and behavioral factors and in molecular imaging, interventional cardiology.

As a result of such a scientific collaboration, more than 30 young BSMU scientists have already received a PhD degree in China, more than 50 scientific articles have been published in highly rated journals. All these specialists are the personnel reserve of the University and currently work in the laboratories of the Institute of Fundamental Medicine, the Institute of Urology and Clinical Oncology, the Campus and structural divisions of the university.

Among the striking examples of the practical application of knowledge obtained on the basis of the joint graduate school (PhD) program, we note the work of Galiullin Danil Fayazovich, a surgeon at the BSMU Clinic, a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine, with a PhD from Sichuan University. Danil Fayazovich on the basis of the laboratory of the Western Chinese Hospital conducted a scientific research to study the mechanisms of resistance to anticancer therapy in stomach cancer. The young doctor was engaged in translational research under the guidance of a leading specialist in the study and treatment of stomach cancer in Sichuan province, deputy director of gastrointestinal surgery at Western China Hospital, Professor Hu Jyankun. Subsequently, a professor at Sichuan University took part in the master class "Robotic Operations in the Treatment of Stomach Cancer" at the BSMU Clinic. Currently, Danil Fayazovich works at the department as an oncologist at the BSMU Clinic and the Institute of Urology and Clinical Oncology.

At Harbin Medical University, 10 graduates of the BSMU of the Ministry of Health of Russia are currently studying under the PhD program and 1 young scientist of the University is undergoing doctoral studies. Sergeeva Irina, a graduate of the Faculty of Dentistry, maxillofacial surgeon, assistant of the Department of Orthopedic Dentistry of the University, studying under the PhD program at Harbin Medical University, is working to study the relationship between the oral and biliary microbiome and benign diseases of the gallbladder. The young scientist regularly updates the roadmap of his mirror project, implemented on the basis of BSMU scientific laboratories. The girl shared that after completing her studies in China, she will develop advanced scientific areas at her native Bashkir State Medical University.
