BSMU delegation took part in the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the partner university - Harbin Medical University

The delegation of the Bashkir State Medical University took part in the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the partner university of BSMU — Harbin Medical University (China). The event, held in the new modern campus of one of the leading medical universities in China, was not only a tribute to the rich history, but also the most important platform for the development of the partnership.

The delegation of the University included Vice-Rector for Strategic Development Milyausha Kabirova, Head of the Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Diseases Naufal Zagidullin and Head of the Residency Department Ramil Zigitbaev.

The guests of the celebration were representatives of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education of the PRC, as well as leaders of leading Russian medical universities: Sechenov University, Pacific, Khabarovsk, Ural and others.

Milyausha Kabirova made a presentation on the interaction of Russian and Chinese universities. She stressed that the Bashkir State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Russia is actively cooperating with Chinese universities: academic exchanges and internships of students and teachers, joint graduate schools are being held, clinical centers are being created, surgical Olympiads and conferences are being held.

The event also hosted meetings with the rectors of the Harbin Medicak University of Past Years - Academician. Jan Baofen (2001-2018), prof. Jan Xue (2018-2023) and current rector of Harbin Medical University prof. Ji Yun.

A special part of the program was the solemn oath of first-year students of HMU, who, on the day of the centenary of their University, began their professional career in medicine.

The result of the official visit was a confirmation of the importance of the agreements reached with the Chinese partner university, and ambitious plans for the near future - the creation of a joint educational center.

BSMU and Harbin Medical University are linked by a long and fruitful history of partnership. Rector of the Bashkir State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Russia, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Valentin Nikolaevich Pavlov is an honorary doctor of Harbin Medical University (China). For 12 years now, universities have been actively developing academic and scientific exchanges: they implement joint graduate school (PhD) and post-doctoral programs (Post-Doc), and also conduct joint research in the field of oncology, cardiology and pharmacology. The result of this work was more than 200 joint scientific events and over 100 publications in highly rated journals. Currently, 10 graduate students and employees of BSMU are undergoing postgraduate studies at Harbin Medical University, and 30 of our graduate students have received PhD degrees.

Note that BSMU is one of the key participants in the Russian-Chinese Association of Medical Universities. The scale of international cooperation is also confirmed by the general activity of the university: more than 100 international scientific and practical conferences are held annually at the BSMU sites alone, in which leading Chinese scientists take part.
