Specialists of the Ufa Eye Research Institute took part in the international conference YOSICON 2026 in India

Employees of the Ufa Eye Research Institute of the Ministry of Health of Russia, ophthalmologist of the 1st Ophthalmology Department I.D. Valishin and Junior Researcher of the Department of Vitreoretinal and Laser Surgery at A.R. Khusniyarova as part of the TROS delegation (Turkish republic ophtalmology Society) took part in the international conference "YOSICON 2026" (Young Ophthalmologists Society of India Conference), which was held in New Delhi (India).

YOSICON is one of the largest educational conferences in India organized by the Society of Young Ophthalmologists of India. The event is aimed at young ophthalmologists, residents, graduate students and novice researchers, providing them with the opportunity to get acquainted with the modern achievements of ophthalmology, exchange experiences with leading specialists and present the results of their own scientific research.

The scientific program of the conference was distinguished by saturation and practical orientation. For three days, more than ten thematic halls simultaneously worked, where plenary sessions, symposia, sections of free reports, analysis of clinical cases, training courses, surgical master classes (wet labs), interactive discussions and practical trainings took place. A feature of YOSICON is the variety of educational formats: in addition to traditional lectures, the program included video selections of operations, clinical case competitions, debates, quizzes, Meet the Expert sessions and specialized courses on improving surgical skills.

The conference covered almost all areas of modern ophthalmology: diseases of the retina, cornea, cataract, glaucoma, refractive surgery, pediatric ophthalmology, uveitis, neuro-ophthalmology, oculoplasty, ophthalmic oncology, modern diagnostic methods, artificial intelligence and innovative surgical technologies.

As part of the scientific program, the institute staff presented the results of their own research. I.D. Valishin spoke at the Retina section with a report "Antiproliferative Therapy of Wet Age-Related Macular Degeneration with Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor Inhibitors: An Experimental Study," which presented the results of an experimental study of the use of inhibitors epidermal growth factor receptor in the therapy of neovascular age-related macular degeneration. A.R. Khusniyarova presented the report "Corneal Cross-Linking in Progressive Keratoconus in Pediatric Practice" in the section "Anterior Segment, Cornea and Cataract," dedicated to the results of a five-year prospective study of the effectiveness and safety of corneal crosslinking in children and adolescents with progressive keratoconus.

In addition to the scientific program, a specialized exhibition of ophthalmological equipment and products worked within the framework of the conference. The participation of specialists from the Ufa Eye Research Institute in YOSICON 2026 was an important opportunity to present the results of the institute's scientific research to the international professional community, exchange experience with foreign colleagues and get acquainted with current trends in the development of modern ophthalmology.

The acquired knowledge and new professional contacts will contribute to the further development of the scientific and clinical activities of the institute.
