The Department of Adaptive Physical Culture and Sports Medicine has opened at the University

A new department of Adaptive Physical Culture and Sports Medicine has opened at Bashkir State Medical University. The main goal of the department is to prepare highly qualified specialists with a medical education to work with professional athletes and physical culture enthusiasts.

The department offers students, residents, and postgraduates the opportunity to acquire new knowledge and obtain qualifications as doctors in sports medicine. Importantly, each learner will find something that helps develop their professional skills:

- for students: excellent start in science and the professional community through participation in the scientific club of the Adaptive Physical Culture and Sports Medicine department;
- for residents: training in the residency program at BSMU in the specialty 31.08.39 Physical Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine, as well as the opportunity to obtain additional qualification as a "sports medicine doctor" for free;
- for scientific residents: those who enroll in the scientific residency program in this field can apply for an additional scholarship of up to 70,000 rubles and have the opportunity to undergo training in a joint graduate program with the "Sports Medicine and Medical Rehabilitation" department of Sechenov University.

The Adaptive Physical Culture and Sports Medicine department is headed by Alexey Borisovich Lukyanov, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor in the scientific specialty "Theory and Methodology of Sports," author of over 80 scientific papers, 4 monographs, and 12 educational manuals. Alexey Borisovich is a Master of Sports of Russia in weightlifting, a coach with 18 years of experience, and a trainer-teacher of the highest category. He has trained
more than 100 winners and prize-winners of sports competitions at international and all-Russian levels, including champions and prize-winners of Asian and European championships.

The main tasks of the new department include:

- training doctors-specialists in sports medicine and physical rehabilitation.
- implementing modern diagnostic, treatment, and medical rehabilitation methodologies for athletes into the educational process.
- conducting scientific research in the fields of physiology and pathology of muscle activity, prevention of sports injuries, and nutrition.
- collaborating with sports federations, clubs, and fitness centres in the Republic of Bashkortostan to provide practical medical assistance and internships in leading sports clubs in Bashkortostan and Russia.

The educational and practical training venues for students will be clubs and sections of the Dinamo Physical Culture and Sports Society.

By consolidating these resources, we have started preparing specialists in sports medicine who will be capable of providing medical support at all levels—from mass sports to Olympic teams. This is our contribution not only to sports but also to the healthy nation", BSMU Rector, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Valentin Pavlov noted.
