Poetry Contest for International Students: "Memory is Needed by the Living"

On May 12, the Department of Russian Language, Linguistics, and International Communication, along with the Dean's Office for International Students at the Bashkir State Medical University (BSMU) of the Ministry of Health of Russia, hosted a nationwide creative competition dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War titled “Memory is Needed by the Living”. The event took place in the university's academic buildings and in the Interuniversity Student Campus of the Eurasian Scientific and Educational Center.

More than 200 international students from BSMU and other Russian universities and colleges participated in the competition. These included students from Ufa University of Science and Technologyu, the University of Justice and Internal Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Orenburg State Medical University (OrGMU), Vyatka State University (VyatGU), the Volga Institute of Management — a branch of RANEPA, and Naberezhnye Chelny Technological College.

The competition featured recitations of poems by renowned Russian poets such as Konstantin Simonov, Alexander Tvardovsky, Anna Akhmatova, Yulia Drunina, Boris Pasternak, Bulat Okudzhava, Robert Rozhdestvensky, among others. Participants also performed songs from the wartime era as well as contemporary patriotic compositions.
