Nigerian sixth-year student plans to develop professional medical career with BSMU

It's no secret that the shortage of medical personnel in state institutions is an all-Russian problem. The lack of doctors, including in medical institutions of Bashkortostan, leads to long queues and forces patients to go to private clinics.

Particularly acute is the shortage of GPs, paediatricians and GPs in rural areas and small towns, where they are often replaced by nurses and paramedics, who are also in short supply.

The head of the republic, Radiy Khabirov, believes that the mandatory training of graduates of the Bashkir State Medical University in institutions will help rectify the situation.

The Ministry of Health of Bashkiria is actively working to resolve the personnel issue, including by involving foreign specialists in the work. One of them is Alade Samuel Adeola, a sixth-year medical student at the BSMU Faculty of Medicine, who came to the capital of Bashkiria from hot Nigeria in 2019. For about a year and a half, the guy worked as a nurse in the Ufa hospice, now he works in the Republican Clinical Psychiatric Hospital. Combining study and work is not easy and time-consuming, but we managed to communicate a little with a cheerful and responsive student. By the way, Samuel is fluent in Russian, which indicates a serious pre-training of foreign specialists.

- I grew up in a large family, - the guy says. I have two brothers who live in Nigeria and a sister - she's in England now.

As for the chosen profession, then Samuel decided to follow in the footsteps of his parents - both the father and mother of our hero work as medical workers in their homeland. When the question arose about the choice of a higher educational institution, the choice fell on BSMU - positive reviews about the quality of teaching in the institution spread far beyond the borders of Russia.

- When I arrived in Ufa, I didn't know a word in Russian, so it seemed to me something unrealistic to learn the language. Also shocked by the cold - we have warm weather, - the student admits.

Citizens of Bashkiria, who, according to Samuel, are very hospitable and friendly, helped the foreigner to overcome difficulties. In his free time, the guy plays sports and shows brilliant results.

The nurse says that he visited about ten cities of Russia, but the Bashkir capital became native during his studies, so the plans are to continue his education here. When asked to name his favorite place in Ufa, the student replied that in the summer he likes to visit the Art Kvadrat, and in the winter - the dormitory. Here, the hero of our publication plans to celebrate his 24th birthday, which, by the way, will come very soon.
