One of the main events of the Olympiad season for chemists - the World Olympiad - took place in Saudi Arabia.
Vadim Kharisov, one of the four young chemists in the Russian team, is going home to Bashkortostan with a gold medal. The young genius became the best among 327 participants from 91 countries at the 56th International Chemistry Olympiad 2024, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia IChO 2024.
The formulas were compiled by Vadim Kharisov with three guys from Moscow centers: Timur Akhmedov from the Chuikov School and Matvei Vasiyarov and Alexey Sharpilo from the Moscow Center for Pedagogical Excellence. Marshal V.I. Chuikov and Matvei Vasiyarov and Alexey Sharpilo from the Moscow Center for Pedagogical Excellence.
This is Vadim's fourth big victory: he has gold medals in 55th International Chemistry Olympiad (Zurich, Switzerland 2023 IChO 2023), 57th International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad (Astana, Kazakhstan 2023) and 58th International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad. Shengzhen, China 2024.
Vadim Kharisov graduated from the Republican Engineering Boarding Lyceum this year. The young man shared that he had applied to two universities of the republic and remained to create at home, in Bashkortostan.
The head of the Russian team is Vadim Eremin, Professor of the Faculty of Chemistry at Lomonosov Moscow State University.
The medalists were congratulated by Education Minister Sergey Kravtsov:
"This achievement demonstrates your outstanding knowledge and skills in chemistry and related sciences. You have once again proved that you can successfully compete with the best students from different countries. I am sure that this success will be the beginning of further achievements in professional activity for the benefit of our country's development", - congratulated Sergey Kravtsov.
Vadim's mentor is Ainur Gumerov, Head of the Department "Medicine of the Future" and Associate Professor of the Department of General Chemistry of BSMU, mentor of the "Association of Mentors of the Olympiad Movement".
"This year I was lucky to participate in the International Chemistry Olympiad for the first time as a member of the delegation. And this is a tremendous experience, because such events are not only competitions for children in solving problems, but also a kind of congress, a conference for teachers and mentors on methods of identifying gifted children, on their preparation. And also there was an interesting experience of translation of chemical problems from English into Russian.
I experienced pride for Russia, for our education, in particular chemical education. All four young guys from the Russian national team won a gold medal. But the best result among the team was shown by Vadim Kharisov.
This is the result of the systematic work we have organized in Bashkortostan to identify gifted children. Bashkir State Medical University takes an active part in this work. The University not only holds profile Olympiads, but also organizes preparation of schoolchildren for subject Olympiads.
The International Chemistry Olympiad consisted of two rounds: theoretical and practical. The theoretical round consisted of nine problems - more capacious and valuable in terms of points. The practical round consisted of two tasks. Our team coped with all the tasks.
Vadim coped very well with those tasks, which other national teams practically did not touch. The young man is actually a very experienced Olympiad player. This is his fourth international Olympiad and second world Olympiad," shared Ainur Gumerov.
CONGRATULATIONS ON THE VICTORY! Thank you for the knowledge and energy of success that you invest in younger generation!
