June 1-2, 2023 Ufa Research Institute of Eye Diseases held the next International Conference on Ophthalmology "East-West – 2023", which was attended by speakers from 17 countries of the world.
In total, more than 2000 specialists took part in the conference. More than 600 ophthalmologists attended the conference halls, including about 150 from different regions of Russia. Experts from CIS countries - Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, as well as from far abroad – India, Mauritius, Madagascar, Ethiopia participated in the face-to-face format with reports.
During the opening ceremony of the conference, the Rector of Bashkir State Medical University, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences V.N. Pavlov, Vice-President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Bashkortostan A.N. Degtyarev, Director of the Ufa Research Institute of Eye Diseases M.M. Bikbov, Head of the Ophthalmological clinic of Mumbai (India) Dr. Janak Shah made a welcoming speech.
The scientific program of the conference included 10 Russian scientific sessions, 5 sessions of foreign ophthalmological societies, 2 sessions of young scientists, "live surgery". The total number of reports is 142.
Within the framework of the East-West conference, a session of the Russian Glaucoma Society, scientific sessions of ophthalmologists from India and African countries took place. Sessions of ophthalmologists from Turkey and Arab countries of the Middle East and Africa were presented in an online format.
Traditionally, within the framework of the conference, "live surgery" was held, during which leading Russian ophthalmic surgeons from clinics in Moscow, Kaluga, Izhevsk, Ufa demonstrated their skills and presented new types of intraocular lenses.
A large exhibition of manufacturers of ophthalmic equipment and medicines was not left without attention.
In general, the conference was held in a warm, friendly atmosphere and left only pleasant memories!
