On June 3-4, the Uzbek-Russian International Medical Forum was held in Samarkand. The Forum was attended by the Ministers of Health of Uzbekistan and Russia Amrillo Shodievich Inoyatov and Mikhail Albertovich Murashko, rectors and professors of leading medical universities of the two countries, representatives of leading specialized medical centers, heads of large pharmaceutical and medical companies, representatives of the diplomatic corps. The delegation of BSMU was headed by Rector, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Pavlov Valentin Nikolaevich. The delegation of BSMU included: Head of the Department of International Activities Abdrakhimov Ruslan Vakhitovich; Head of the Department of Orthopedic Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery Averyanov Sergey Vitalievich; Head of the Department of Pharmacology with a course of clinical Pharmacology Samorodov Alexander Vladimirovich; Professor of the Department of Pediatric Surgery Sataev Valery Uralovich; Professor of the Department of Infectious Diseases Khasanova Guzel Mirgasimovna.
The Ministers of Health of the two countries delivered a welcoming speech at the event. It was noted that during the coronavirus pandemic, Russia became the first country to transfer test systems for the diagnosis of diseases to Uzbekistan free of charge. Russia has also transferred 4 mobile microbiological laboratories of express diagnostics to Uzbekistan. With the support of Russian partners, the production of the Sputnik V vaccine has been launched in Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of medical cooperation between the two countries, special attention was paid to the development of medical education. To date, about 3,200 students are studying at medical universities of the Russian Federation under joint bachelor's degree programs, 170 students are studying for a master's degree, and 250 students from Uzbekistan are studying for a clinical residency.
The forum discussed in detail the implementation of joint projects on digitalization of medicine, training programs, retraining and advanced training of medical personnel, joint scientific events and research.
At the conference, a group of Russian specialists were awarded letters of thanks and titles of honorary professors and doctors of universities of Uzbekistan.
Valentin Nikolaevich Pavlov was awarded the title of "Honorary Doctor" of the Republican Specialized Center of Epidemiology, Microbiology, Infectious and Parasitic Diseases of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
An important result of the visit of the BSMU delegation to the Uzbek-Russian International Medical Forum was the signing of a number of agreements on mutual cooperation in the field of science, education and the development of joint research with institutions of Uzbekistan, including a Memorandum of cooperation with the Tashkent Medical Academy (Rector Shadmanov Alisher Kayumovich); an agreement on the opening of a joint laboratory for phytochemistry and pharmacology with Samarkand State Medical University (Rector Rezaev Zhasur Alimdzhanovich); Memorandum of cooperation with the Republican Specialized Center of Epidemiology, Microbiology, Infectious and Parasitic Diseases of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Director Tajiev Botir Mirkhashimovich); Memorandum of cooperation with the Bukhara State Medical Institute named after Abu Ali ibn Sino (Rector Teshaev Shukhrat Zhumaevich); Memorandum of cooperation with the Karakalpak Medical Institute (rector Ataniyazova Oral Aminovna).
