March 3 , 2023 Ufa Research Institute of Eye Diseases of the BSMU of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation held a regular conference "Glaucoma: present and future" in a hybrid format. It was attended by more than 700 ophthalmologists from the Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Surgut, Sochi, Kaliningrad, Ulan-Ude, Irkutsk, Khabarovsk, Beslan, Murmansk, Simferopol, etc.), Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Lithuania, China, and South Korea. The conference was accredited in the system of continuing medical education (received 6 points), and its program included 10 lecture reports and a satellite symposium.
The conference was opened by the Director of the Ufa Research Institute of Eye Diseases, Prof. M.M. Bikbov, and its participants were also welcomed by the chief physician of the Russian Center for Eye and Plastic Surgery of the BSMU of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, MD. R.Z. Kadyrov and Professor of the Department of Ophthalmology of BSMU, chief freelance ophthalmologist of the Volga Federal District V.U. Galimov. The scientific program was presented by the leading glaucomatologists of Russia: Head of the Department of Eye Diseases of MBU, Professor N.I. Kurysheva (Moscow), head of Glaucoma Department of the Eye Research Institute named after M.M. Krasnov, Vice-President of the Russian Glaucoma Society, Professor V.P. Erichev (Moscow), Deputy head doctor of Innovation and Technological Development Samara Clinical Hospital MD E.V. Karlova (Samara), head. therapeutic and diagnostic department. Khabarovsk branch of "Eye Microsurgery" N.A. Kuleshova, Assistant of the Department of Ophthalmology, KSMU O.G. Zvereva (Kazan), Associate Professor of the Department of Ophthalmology with the course of IDPO of the BSMU Ph.D. A.Sh. Zagidullina (Ufa), head. Department of Scientific Research of the Ufa Research Institute of Eye Diseases, MD. A.E. Babushkin and the head of the diagnostic department of the VTSGPH BSMU S.R. Gatiyatullina (Ufa). The lectures comprehensively covered the most relevant fundamental and applied problems of diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma. The conference program was very rich, and the exhibition of pharmaceutical companies' products and informative reports allowed the audience to gain new knowledge for their application in their daily clinical practice.
