In accordance with the order of the BSMU No. 130-a on February 28, 2023, a master class "Anomalies of the development of the craniovertebral area in neurological practice" was held at the clinical base of the Department of Neurology with an Institute of Continuing Professional Education Clinical Hospital of Emergency Medicine. Arnold-Chiari Malformation", organized by the head of the Department of Neurology with an Institute of Continuing Professional Education BSMU, Professor L.B. Novikova. The master class was devoted to the improvement and acquisition of new knowledge on etiopathogenesis, clinical manifestations, diagnostics and therapeutic and preventive tactics for anomalies in the development of the craniovertebral area. The relevance of this topic is due to the fact that neurological manifestations of craniovertebral area anomalies are quite common in patients in various age groups. However, most often patients with this pathology go to medical institutions at an able-bodied active age and have a variety of diagnoses: osteochondrosis, vestibulopathy, multiple sclerosis, hypertension syndrome, chronic cerebral ischemia. Insufficient awareness of doctors of various specialties leads to untimely diagnosis and delayed treatment.
The purpose of the master class was to deepen special knowledge in the issues of clinical manifestations, the algorithm of examination of the patient, interpretation of the results of neuroimaging research methods, tactics of patient management, including planning of therapeutic, rehabilitation and preventive measures.
The program of the master class included a theoretical part, which covered the issues of etiopathogenesis, features of clinical manifestations. Special attention was paid to the practical part: analysis and demonstration of clinical cases, analysis of extensive neuroimaging material. An active discussion and numerous questions from doctors testified to the relevance of the topic and its importance in practical medicine. The master class aroused the keen interest of doctors in this problem and testified to the need for such training events.
