A volunteer squad has started working ft the all-Russia eye and plastic surgery center

As part of the implementation of the «Priority 2030 program», an ophthalmological cluster operates on the basis of BSMU, part of which is the Higher School of Regenerative Eye and Plastic Surgery, in addition to scientific work, medical work is carried out. Patients from 90 countries arrive for treatment and require language support. In order to increase the effectiveness of training, stimulate interest in scientific and practical activities, as well as the development and improvement of skills in specialized disciplines, a volunteer multilingual group of foreign students was created.

Despite the fact that for many of them it was their first experience as volunteers, they coped with all the tasks and gained invaluable experience. Students were involved in all stages of working with patients: preparing patients for surgery, caring for them after surgery, measuring blood pressure, giving injections on time, monitoring the daily routine. The volunteers also studied various methods and equipment for eye examination.

At the All-Russian Eye and Plastic Surgery Center, volunteers had the opportunity to talk with the world-famous Professor Ernst Talgatovich Muldashev.

The 1st year General Medicine student, Moamen V. H. Kandeel shared his impressions about volunteering: "There we learned how to take care of the patient after surgery, keep all the necessary protocols after surgery, when transferring the patient to his ward, trying to talk gently to him and reassuring him that everything will be fine, administer medications, measure a person's blood pressure. We learned what Alloplant is and how it works. We have worked with foreign patients. As a volunteer at the All–Russia Eye and Plastic Surgery Center, I was once again convinced that medicine is a humanitarian work, regardless of nationality".
