On July 14, a 42-year-old female patient with primary vaginal cancer who underwent radiation therapy and 6 courses of chemotherapy underwent robotic anterior pelvic evisceration with vaginectomy at BSMU Clinic. The operation was performed by Valentin N. Pavlov, rector of BSMU, corresponding member of RAS, and Professor Alfiya Yaschuk, head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology with a Course of IAPE.
Primary vaginal cancer accounts for 1 % to 3% of all gynecological malignancies, with 79% of cases occurring in women over 60 years of age. The uniqueness of this operation was that for the first time on the basis of the University Clinic, the operation was performed on a patient with that diagnosis.
