The International linguistic and cultural club Between the Cultures at the Scientific Library in association with BSMU Russian Language Course held the series of events dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Victory of the USSR over Nazi Germany in the Great Patriotic war.
The anniversary year of the Great Victory celebration for Russia is held in an unusual form because of the COVID-19 virus pandemic that has broken out all over the world and on the territory of Russia. Due to the current situation, all events are held online.
So on May 7, the Russian Language Course and the International Club Between the Cultures of our University held the Literary Lounge 75 Lines of Victory, which was attended by about 100 people from among Russian and foreign students. At the meeting, participants of the Literary Lounge shared their opinions on their favorite books and poems dedicated to the Great Patriotic war and Victory of the USSR over Nazi Germany. Participants also told stories about the hard days of the war and happy moments of victory in the World War II, which in turn had been told by their grandparents and grand-grandparents. In the Literary Lounge, the participants remembered the names of those who had defended our Homeland, who had returned home and who had remained on the battlefield.
On 7 and 8 May, the Russian Language Course and the International Club Between the Cultures conducted the Virtual Tour at the Victory Museum, Moscow, for BSMU foreign students, as well as for students from North-Eastern University, Liaoning province, China, who are studying Russian. Participants of the online event visited the Victory Museum, which is located on Poklonnaya hill in the capital of our Motherland – Moscow. The Victory Museum is the main military and historical Museum of Russia on the subject of the Great Patriotic war and World War II. It is one of the largest military historical museums in the world, a national research and cultural and educational center. Today, the Museum is one of the leading institutions for countering attempts to falsify history, as well as the center for Patriotic education of new generations. The Victory Museum impressed the students with its scale, colorful dioramas, and the number of original exhibits left after the Great Patriotic war. In two days, more than 200 people joined the virtual exhibition, which once again proves the inexhaustible interest of students from Russia and other countries in the events of those years, as well as their respect and gratitude to those heroes who fell in the battles for the world free from fascism.
As a part of the celebration of the Great Victory, the Poetry contest 75 Poems about Victory was also organized. Students not only from Russia, but also from among foreign citizens took part in the contest. The participants' task was to choose a poem about the war and record a video.
