BSMU professor has become Head of Department at the University in Tanzania

Baygildina Asiya Akhmetovna, Professor of the Department of Biological Chemistry at BSMU, has been appointed the Head of the Department of Biomedical disciplines (Biochemistry, Human Anatomy, Normal Physiology) at St. Joseph's University in Tanzania.

Baygildina Asiya Akhmetovna graduated with honors from the School of General Medicine of Bashkir State Medical Institute and enrolled in full-time postgraduate studies in the specialty "Biochemistry". In 1993, Asiya Akhmetovna defended her PhD thesis, in 2014 -her doctoral thesis. Professor's work experience at our University is more than 30 years, including 15 years of teaching Biological and Bioorganic Chemistry in English for international students from India, Pakistan, Egypt, Ghana, Tanzania, etc.

In 2018, Professor Asiya Baygildina successfully passed an interview with a representative of St. Joseph University on the recommendation of organization “External Education" (in agreement with the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the United Republic of Tanzania) and was approved by the government of Tanzania as a Professor of this University.

- Our Russian system of medical education is valued in Tanzania, - the Professor shared. - Together with me, about 40 teachers of medical universities from different cities of the Russian Federation were interviewed. Currently, the Russians teach theoretical and clinical disciplines at the Medical College of the University.

Currently, Prof. Asiya Baygildina is the coordinator of the 1st year of the Medical College and scientific supervisor of theses of 19 fifth-year students at the same College.

It should be noted, that St. Joseph's University is a network of universities based all around the world. St. Joseph University in Tanzania is located in Dar es Salaam and consists of three colleges: two at the Mbezi-Luguluni campus and one at the Boko campus. Colleges on the Mbezi-Luguluni campus offer degree programs in various fields of Engineering and Science and Mathematics education. The College on the Boko campus offers doctor of Medicine, doctor of Pharmacy, and Nursing specialist programs.
