BSMU celebrates Republic Day of India

On 27 January 2020, Dean’s office for international students and Indian students organized and held the 71st Republic Day of India.

Honorable guests of the celebration were Alexander A. Tsyglin, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Rasul S. Farshatov, dean of the Dean's office for international students, and teachers of BSMU. Alexander A. Tsyglin uttered the welcoming speech to the audience wishing to be patriots and at the same time to remember about international relations.

Nishtha Saniyawala, reporter of the BSMU Press team, speaks about the celebration as follows: “It is very rightly said that you can take yourself out of India but you cannot take the Indian out of you. This statement holds true for the Indian students of the Bashkir State Medical University. On 27 January, Bashkir State Medical University and the BSMU-Press Team along with students organized the Republic day event celebration devoted to the 71st Indian Republic day.

The Constitution was adopted by the Indian Constituent Assembly on 26 November 1949 and came into effect on 26 January 1950 with a democratic government system, completing the country's transition towards becoming an independent republic. This year marked the 71st year after the Constitution was adopted. The Indian Constitution is also the largest handwritten Constitution in the world.

The international students of BSMU were treated with a spectacular event that was filled with a multitude of talent performances, which were overflowing with a feeling of patriotism.

Alexander Tsiglin, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, and Rasul Farshatov, Dean for International Students, were the honorable chief guests of the event. In the celebration many patriotic songs were sung, people danced to the beat of songs that awoke the feeling of nationalism.

The event was given a grand start by the singing of the Indian national anthem and reminding everyone of India's greatness. The audience instantly felt closer to their motherland after joining in. After that the stage was graced by the presence of the Different Faculties of BSMU.

The Vice Rector delivered a heart touching speech in which he was reminiscing the meaning of republic day and the freedom struggle of India.

He then went on to say and wish that India might soon become the greatest nation in the world. He concluded by wishing all the Indian students a very happy republic day and also hoping that they become the greatest doctors and also pass their m.c.i. exam with excellence. At the end, the dean presented the Indian flag to the Vice rector as a memento in remembrance to this celebration.

After the Vice rector's speech, the student participants fueled the energy of the audience by delivering a small tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji, a great King and freedom fighter whose name has been written in Golden letters in the history of India. Later on a solo dance was performed on the theme of Indian army and Indian army families. It displayed the importance and unforgettable contribution of the Indian army to India. The auditorium then rang with the melodious voices of the Indian students who sang the iconic Vande Mataram and Rang de basanti song. The international students of the BSMU that belonged to other nations truly proved that Bashkir State Medical University is one big family by participating actively in the festivities.

Moving forward a drama was performed to put forward the secularism of Indian subcontinent.

As it is already known, India is a country of various religions such as Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, Sikhism, and Christianity. Every religion is treated equally with great dignity and seen with divinity. This thought was the main Crux of the drama. Students really worked hard and shed their blood, sweat and tears to make this celebration a memorable one. India also has a lot of cultural variability. To prove this point many cultural dances were performed. They were done with great zeal and enthusiasm. Now while the feeling that resides in the heart of every Indian on Republic day can never be expressed using words, many students did their best at projecting that feeling through the means of poetry.

The stage was graced by the presence of Rasul Salikhovich who gave the audience few words of motivation. He also told how he was energized and how much he enjoyed seeing the enthusiasm in which the students took part to organize the event and how the adored the power with which the audience cheered the performers.

Even after this many solo dances and group dances were performed.

At the end of celebration, a group song was sung by the young singers of the Bashkir State Medical University where every performer and participant came on stage and proved the unity of India as a country.

Later on the feather of the cap was the delicious Indian food that was cooked by the students. The honorable guests were delighted to have an Indian feast that presented them with goodness of Indian culture.

Everyone had a lot of fun during the event. Moreover, each person left with a smile on their face and love for India in their hearts.

In conclusion it should be pointed out, that the event was a blockbuster celebration that both the Indian students and the international students participating actively and enthusiastically saw.”
