BSMU students became winners of X International Dental Games “Dentistry of the South – 2019”

On October 21-23, Tashkent State Dental Institute (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) hosted the X International Dental Games "Dentistry of the South – 2019", where 18 teams from different countries took part. Our University was represented by the team of 4 and 5 year students of the Faculty of Dentistry – Khammatov Airat, Kadyrbayev Galim, Khabirova Lilia and Khammatov Aidar.

The Olympiad included tasks from all sections of dentistry – orthopedic, surgical, therapeutic, pediatric and orthodontics. At the stage of orthopedic dentistry, the contestants modeled a tooth from wax and prepared a tooth for a metal-ceramic crown. At the therapeutic stage the restoration of the chewing group of teeth and tooth preparation on a 3D-simulator were carried out. The surgical stage consisted of sinus lifting on the phantom (chicken egg) and A. A. Limberg frenuloplasty on the phantom (RAM's head). At the stage of orthodontic dentistry, participants made diagnostics and further planning of treatment of an orthodontic patient by cephalometry and made a clamp for removable orthodontic devices. At the stage of pediatric dentistry, participants performed vital amputation of the temporary tooth, invasive sealing of the permanent tooth fissures and determined the dental index of the volunteer. Also, within the framework of the Olympiad, the scientific and practical conference "Modern science and practice in dentistry" was held, where all participants performed their reports.

BSMU students showed their skills at the highest level and became winners in the following categories:

1.                 Khabirova Lilia – the winner of the nomination “Jury's Choice” at the competition “Prevention of dental caries”;
2.                 Khammatov Airat – the winner at the category “Innovative approach” at the competition “Tooth preparation for metal ceramic crown”;
3.                 Khammatov Aidar – took the first place at the surgical stage, "Frenuloplastika by A. A. Limberg»;
4.                 Kadyrbayev Galim – became the absolute champion at the Olympiad “Dentistry of the South – 2019” for the best result in the direction of "Orthodontics".

The participants of the Olympiad express their gratitude to Professor Valentin N. Pavlov, rector of the Bashkir State Medical University, for the opportunity to take part in the Olympiad, and also thank the Tashkent State Dental Institute for the hospitality and high level of organization of the event.
