On 10 and 11 April the Bashkir State Medical University hosted the annual International Festival of Languages. This year the event was devoted to the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Bashkortostan. The main purpose of the festival is to strengthen international relations, identify and support creative students, expand the cultural boundaries of participants and the development of interest of international students to learn Russian.
This year, the festival was attended by more than 180 projects of international students studying in Russia, as well as students from China and Brazil, studying the Russian language. Active participation of students not only from the Bashkir universities: Bashkir State Medical University, Bashkir State University, Ufa State Petroleum Technological University and Ufa State Aviation Technical University but also universities of St. Petersburg and Kaliningrad. The work was carried out in two directions: "Linguistics" and "Cultural Linguistics". Students from India, China, Brazil, Egypt, Côte d'Ivoire, Colombia, Congo, Lebanon, Senegal, Yemen, Guinea and many other countries presented research papers on different languages, aspects of the study of linguistics and culture, interactions of languages and cultures, etc. The participants recited poems of the Russian, Bashkir, English, Indian, and even Turkmen writers, sang songs in Russian, Spanish, Arabic, French, Hindi, filmed video about life in Russia and love for the Republic of Bashkortostan and the Russian language, showed master classes, asked questions, made posts about the Russian language in the educational media space. In short, any talent had the opportunity to shine with new colors at our Festival of Languages.
On 11 April the jury summed up the results and awarded the best performances with prizes. The best scientific report in the section "Linguistics" was the speech about “Arabic borrowings in Spanish”, prepared by students of the 1st and 3rd courses Yussef Said and Jessica Mendoza. Scientific report of the 3rd course student Sharma Bhavna on “Healthcare blogs in the English-speaking and Russian-speaking Internet”, according to the jury, was the best in the section "Cultural Linguistics", and the first place in the same section was awarded to Mayeku Damasio Toku from USPTU with report “The wedding rites in Angola”. The best video was presented by the 5th course students Mansi Sharma and Purohit Some "I love Bashkortostan". The best master-class was master-class of the Chinese language by Jia Wyton from USPTU. The best creative representation of language was given to work of Hassanshakur Abdullah Ibrahim. The awards "Sincerity of performance", "The Best presentation of native culture", "The Best speaker" and many others were awarded to the winners.
