On 22 February 2019, BSMU held the conference “Tolerance. Youth against terrorism and extremism” with the participation of Russian students and international students from India, Nigeria, Congo, Colombia, Egypt, Côte de Voir, Vietnam, Kenya and other countries. The conference was dedicated to the Fatherland Defender Day.
At the beginning of the conference, the song "Moment" from the famous Russian movie "Seventeen moments of spring" was performed by Ihekoronye Prudent Oniekachi, the 3rdyear student of the faculty of General Medicine, the winner of the competition on folk songs in 2018.
The conference was organized by the Dean's office for work with foreign students. Associate Professor Zeleev M. H., curator of international students, was the moderator of the conference. Along with the role of youth in the terrorism and extremism ideology prevention, the participants discussed the relationship between the doctor and the patient.
There were informative and emotional reports, accompanied by interesting presentations. The participants were impressed by their performances and fully revealed such an exciting and, unfortunately, relevant topic in our time.
In addition, special attention should be paid to Bemone Metomebi Elfrage, the student of the 1st year of the faculty of General Medicine, who presented his report on relationship between the doctor and the patient in Russian. Bemone finished his speech with the words of the poet and novelist Robert Sabatier, "the Doctor, who himself is not a cure – bad doctor".
In addition, participants of the conference appreciated the report of Kalra Kanishka, Verma Soumiya from group L-106A, who touched on the problems of tolerance in India, and the report by Musina G. F. "The Treatment complexity of victims after the terrorist attack."
All participants were awarded with certificates, and the most active received prizes.
1st place - Rakesh Swami, Tirgul Nikita Ramesh, group L-105A-IN (report "Tolerance in modern society").
2nd place – Knyazev L. V., group P-308A (report "The Tolerant attitude of the doctor and the HIV status patient"), Prachi Singh, group L-102A-IN (report, "Kashmir conflict").
3rd place - Zakiryanova L. F., Khalitova I. F., 5th year students of the faculty of General Medicine (report "Nord-OST: a unique rescue operation"), Yakubu Mustafa Kaimal, group L-301B-IN (report "The Fight against terrorism in Nigeria").
The peculiarity of the conference was its cross-cultural and multilingual character, with several Russian students reported in a foreign language, and international students – in Russian.
