Professor from China Wei Yonggang visited Bashkir State Medical University

On October 24, Professor Wei Yonggang from Sichuan University came to BSMU. Based on the cooperation agreement between the Bashkir State Medical University and Sichuan University from 2015, Professor conducts master classes and lectures for students, teachers and the doctors at BSMU Clinic.

October 24, Valentin Pavlov, rector of the Bashkir State Medical University, corresponding member of RAN, met with Professor Wei Yonggang. At the meeting they discussed the further development of cooperation between the two universities, the exchange of teaching staff for lectures and master classes, the direction of BSMU residents for short-term internships, as well as a joint PhD program (graduate school).

After that, Professor Wei Yonggang gave a lecture for senior students "Laparoscopic surgery of liver cancer in China and Sichuan University".

- Thanks to the cooperation with BSMU, we are familiar with many BSMU students and teachers, trained on the database of West China hospital and Sichuan University. Such experience of international activities contributes to the integration of science of both countries in the educational and medical process, the collaboration of joint scientific research, - said Professor Wei Yonggang.

Three of the graduate students of BSMU - Kudryashov Valentin, Danil Galiulin, Taipov Tagir, currently have internships at Sichuan University. The doctor's lecture was devoted to modern trends and methods of abdominal surgery in China and around the world.

On October 25, Professor  Wei Yonggang held a master class on liver resection at BSMU Clinic. The master class started with a grand opening, which was attended by the chief physician of BSMU Clinic, Shamil Bulatov, Vice-rector for Innovation and Medical work, Professor Anvar Bakirov, head of the Faculty surgery department, Professor Mahmud Timerbulatov, head of the surgical diseases and new technologies department with the Course of IAPE, Professor Oleg Galimov.

During the master class, the operation was performed on a 68-year-old patient with metastatic liver cancer with a lesion of the left lobe.

- Liver cancer in China is much more common than in Bashkiria, due to poor ecology, eating habits (eating a large amount of spicy food) and the prevalence of hepatitis C. Therefore, the number of such operations carried out in China exceeds the number in the Republic of Bashkortostan, and Chinese doctors have extensive experience and practical skills that we can adopt in our practice, - commented Professor Mahmud Timerbulatov.

The master class was broadcast to the lecture hall of BSMU Clinic for doctors, residents and students. They had the opportunity to ask questions to the professors about the progress of the operation immediately.

On October 26, Professor  Wei Yonggang will take part in the Republican Scientific Practical Conference "Topical issues of surgery". The conference will be held in Kuvatov hospital DC "Medic", St. Dostoevsky, 132. Startsat 10: 00
