Professor Selina Le May-Klippel, Professor of Medical Affairs in New York University, continues practical classes at BSMU Medical College. This time, professor represented to the students of the Nursing specialty the topic "Nutrition of patients".
Nutrition is one of the most important factors that have a significant impact on health, performance and resistance to the environment. Hippocrates also said "Food should be medicine and medicine should be food".
At the lesson, the students studied the history of the development of therapeutic nutrition, and such aspects as the goals and functions of therapeutic nutrition, organization and diet, distribution of food and feeding the patient in the hospital, control of the food brought to the patient, the algorithm of feeding the patient, feeding the seriously ill patients with a spoon.
At the end of the class, students asked questions, and concluded that it was the quality of food consumed largely depends on the harmonious development of the body, its resistance to diseases and negative environmental factors.
