BSMU is included in the team of "Global Burden of Disease” global project

The Bashkir State Medical University and the colleagues from Washington University and Central Scientific and Research Institute of Healthcare Organization and Informatization will conduct research on statistics and analysis of population health in the Republic of Bashkortostan. Our University has a cooperation agreement with Washington University, in particular, research is carried out on neuro-rehabilitation together with Professor S. Robinson. The project "Global Burden of Disease” will be implemented on the basis of three scientific institutions in the framework of the task to adapt the methodology for assessing disease burden. For the first time the Project will move to the regional level and BSMU will be the first representative of it in the Russian Federation at the regional level. According to the Thirteenth General program of WHO, progress in its implementation from 2019 will be assessed in the Russian Federation, as in all other WHO member States, through the indicators and methodology of the Global Burden of Disease project. Representatives of the Project are Professor Mohsen Nagavi and Scott Glenn from Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at Washington University, Seattle, USA, expressed willingness to carry out these studies on the basis of BSMU. This fact shows a high international level of recognition of our University scientists’ competence. Professor Mohsen Nagavi is a unique specialist and author with the world's largest citation index of publications on this issue. Colleagues from Washington University participated with presentations at the international seminar on health statistics and the use of WHO indicators "Global Burden of Disease", which was held on 12-13 September 2018 in Central Scientific and Research Institute of Healthcare Organization and Informatization of the Russian Ministry of Healthcare. Bulat Idrisov, assistant of the Infectious Diseases department with the Course of IAPE, who has extensive experience of cooperation with Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, also made the report at the seminar. He presented the concept of the project on the Local burden of disease in the Republic of Bashkortostan.
