Valentin N. Pavlov met with the President of the Republic of Abkhazia Raul Khadzhimba

On 8 June the rector of Bashkir State Medical University, corresponding member of RAS, Valentin N. Pavlov met with the President of the Republic of Abkhazia, Raul Khadzhimba. The Minister of Healthcare of Abkhazia, Tamaz Tsakhnakia, rector of the Abkhazian State University, Aleko Gvaramia, and head of the Faculty Surgery department at BSMU, Mahmud Timerbulatov, attended the meeting.

- It is important for us to build effective cooperation with the Russian Federation. I know that a document on cooperation with our Institute of experimental pathology and therapy is ready to be signed. This is a unique institution and I would like to see the continuation of the work that was carried out there during the Soviet time. As for the cooperation between the Universities, we hope that the existing contacts will increase, and the plans will continue to be implemented in practice," - the Head of the Republic said.

The agreement on cooperation between the universities was signed in 2017. According to the agreement the head of the Biology department at BSMU, Tatyana Viktorova, gave the lecture course for students of the Biology and Geography Faculty on the topic "Human Genome". In addition, Tatyana Viktorova was the Chairman of the state certification Commission on the specialty of medical biochemistry at the Abkhazian State University.

Rector of the Abkhazian State University, Aleko Gvaramia, noted that business contacts between the two Universities bring great benefits, including the field of education. He also said that there are many plans for cooperation, in particular, the creation of a joint magistracy.

Rector of the Bashkir State Medical University, Valentin N. Pavlov, thanked the President for the warm welcome and conditions that were created to support cooperation with the Bashkir State Medical University.

"We are very glad that we are able to implement the tasks. There was not a single day that we did not interact in different directions. We are successfully cooperating in two areas. It is science and education. We have excellent relations with Aleko Alekseevich. Experts give lectures. We are glad that we start official cooperation with the Institute of experimental pathology and therapy. The second direction is the practice of students. Our residents and senior students have the opportunity to practice in your Republican hospital. This is a great contribution to the future," - said Valentin Pavlov.

During the visit, the delegation of BSMU will conduct workshops on urology, gynecology, anesthesiology for doctors of the Republic at the Republican hospital, as well as show the innovations of robotic surgery, will share the Bashkir doctors’ experience in early rehabilitation after surgery.
