BSMU delegation visited Dresden Technical University

From 2 till 7 May, the Bashkir State Medical University delegation, represented by the rector, corresponding member of RAS, Valentin N. Pavlov, head of the Project Management department, Adel Ismailov, Vice-rector on Administrative and Economic Work, Marat Taipov, head of the International Relations and Public Relations department, Naufal Zagidullin and specialist, Galiya Nasretdinova, officially visited Carl Gustav Carus Faculty of Medicine at Dresden Technical University.

During the visit, a number of meetings were held between the delegates and representatives of Dresden Technical University. Valentin N. Pavlov met with Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Dresden Technical University, head of the Neurology department, Professor Heinz Reichmann at the University Clinic. Further cooperation between the universities, cooperation opportunities in the field of medical education and research were discussed. It was agreed to create scientific groups on both sides in the areas of oncology, neurology, and endocrinology. The issue of resuming bilateral student summer internships, the direction of BSMU clinical interns on short-term internship in Carl Gustav Carus Clinic of Dresden Technical University on obstetrics and gynaecology, pathological anatomy, surgery, traumatology and urology, enrolling two students of the Faculty of Medicine of Dresden Technical University in BSMU for the semester exchange.

In addition, BSMU delegates met with Michael Hansel, specialist of the Education Department at Dresden TU and the representative of Max Planck Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology and Genetics (MPI-CBG), Catherine Boes. They had a tour in the laboratories, showing their equipment, materials, new methods of research, they were told about the direction of research, which are held at the Max Planck Institute. The delegation visited the genetics laboratories and the mouse-breeding center.

On 4 May, the members of BSMU delegation had the meeting with Professor Richard Funk, head of the Anatomy Department. Richard Funk participated in the East-West conference, held by the Institute of Eye Diseases in the Republic of Bashkortostan in 2017. He conducted the tour for the delegation of BSMU at the Anatomy Department, showed the process of educational and scientific work organization, as well as demonstrated a virtual dissection table “Anatomage”. The representatives of the Universities reached the agreement on the arrival of Richard Funk in Ufa to give lectures and present master classes for BSMU students and postgraduates.

The meeting with Professor Andreas Mogwitz, Director of the Medical Campus at Carl Gustav Carus Clinic, led to the agreement on exchange of General Medicine curricula in English.

Arrival in Dresden could not be without meeting an old friend of BSMU, head of the Urology department at the Faculty of Medicine in Dresden TU, Professor Manfred Wirth. During the meeting it was decided to implement the possibility of passing the University PhD students at the Faculty of Medicine of Dresden Technical University. The sides agreed the enrollment of BSMU graduate student, Yuri Korelov, to the Urology department of Carl Gustav Carus Clinic and the arrival of Manfred Wirth in Ufa in the framework of the visit at the Urology Congress in Ekaterinburg.
