The Minister of Healthcare of the Russian Federation, Veronika Skvortsova, attended the meeting.
The event was held in Almazov V.A. National Medical Research Center during the working visit of the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, to St. Petersburg.
Before the meeting, the President and Minister, Veronika Skvortsova, got acquainted with the work of the medical institution. General Director of the Center, Evgeniy Shlyakhto, demonstrated a hybrid operating room, which has no analogues in Russia. Its equipment allows doing a CT scan right at the operation. One of the advantages of hybrid surgery is one-time execution of open interventions by several teams in one operating room, which reduces the duration of the operation. This method reduces the risk of complications and shortens the duration of hospital stay.
During the conversation with representatives of the medical community, patient organizations, educational institutions and medical associations of Russia, the head of state discussed a wide range of issues related to the development of national healthcare.
"It is obvious that without a healthy person it is impossible to solve the most important humanitarian problem and the mission of the state, it is impossible to make a person's life long and high – quality, it is impossible to solve the key problem of any country and ours including: preservation of the nation, development of the nation," the President said.
In addition, he added that the government and the administration had recently been instructed. Now the preparation of specific decrees in the areas of activity, in the sectors, including healthcare, medicine will start.
