The final stage of the Olympics "I am a Professional" was held in BSMU

On January 27, the full-time stage of the first all-Russian Student Olympics "I am a Professional" was held. Fifteen BSMU students and about 70 students from Medical Universities of Samara, Yekaterinburg, Orenburg, Tyumen, Chelyabinsk attended it.

- All of you, the participants of the Olympics, have already won, as you passed to the final full-time stage and honorably showed the high level of knowledge. The base, where the Olympics is held, was prepared for accreditation of specialists and this Olympics will be a good training before the graduation of the state accreditation - the Director of BSMU, a member of the RAS Valentin Pavlov made a welcoming speech to the participants.

Students who successfully passed correspondence tests on the basis of Yandex platform in the areas of "General Medicine" and "Dentistry" were chosen for the full-time stage at the Olympics. Performing tasks of the final stage, each participant passed 4 stations one by one: basic intensive care unit, emergency medical care, anamnesis collection at the primary outpatient medical reception, the station with manipulations – intravenous injection (General Medicine), dissection of the carious cavity in a permanent tooth, filling of the carious cavity in a permanent tooth, infiltration anesthesia in the treatment of a permanent tooth, removal of a permanent tooth (Dentistry).

The correctness of the manipulations was evaluated by a professional jury among which there were the chief doctors, heads of departments and honored doctors of leading clinics of Ufa. Points, exhibited by the jury, as well as video and audio materials will be sent to Moscow, and the expert council of the Olympics will determine the winners who will get cash prizes and benefits for admission to the residency and graduate school.

- Emotions are overwhelming. First, because I was the first to speak and to take full responsibility is very exciting. Nevertheless, I think that I coped with everything and, I hope, saved the patient – Victoria Aleksandrova, a six-year student of Samara Medical University shared her impressions.
